PART 1: What are the health benefits of phytoestrogens in lentils and pulses?

Phytoestrogens, which are found in pulses such as lentils and soya products as well as in linseed, chickpeas and wholemeal products, are plant compounds that can have weak oestrogen-like effects (Thomson, Gray, & Rechzigl, 1998). However, these effects can vary depending on the quantity and individual reaction.


Phytoöstrogene in Hülsenfrüchten wie Linsen und Sojaprodukten sowie in Leinsamen, Kichererbsen und Vollkornprodukten sind Pflanzenstoffe, die schwache östrogenähnliche Wirkungen aufweisen können (Thomson, Gray, & Rechzigl, 1998). Solche Wirkungen können jedoch je nach Menge und individueller Reaktion variieren.
